What is sheet metal?

The word sheet metal is used partly about the material steel, which is based on iron ore that is manufactured in smelters and rolled and cut into flat sheets. There are many different qualities depending on the different varieties and amounts of other elements that are added, so-called alloys. But we are also talking about sheet metal like the sheet itself (compare English sheet metal), which can consist of other metals such as aluminum, brass, and copper, etc.
