A thin, perpendicular and focused beam from a high-power laser is directed at the workpiece. When the laser beam hits the surface of the sheet metal, the energy is converted into heat and the material melts or completely vaporises.
The actual cutting begins when the laser beam has penetrated the material at a certain point. The laser system follows a chosen template and separates the material in the process.
What thickness can be cut? It depends on the performance of the machine, the cutting speed, the quality of the material and the skill and routine of the operator in setting all the different parameters of the machine. These factors affect the final result.

Amada LC 2012 C1 Laser cutting combination machine
In our laser department you will find no less than three combination laser machines, a good capacity in the industry. Together with our two Apelio combi laser machines, the Amada LC 2012 C1 combi lasers are in production around the clock. They are all of the CO2 laser type, 2kW with integrated punching units in the same machine as the laser unit. That is, two machines in one!
- For the right type of part that includes mouldings, countersinks and threads, this machine saves set-up time and allows for faster and more cost-effective production.
- The machine can make engravings, punch markings, collars and dents, as well as punch smaller bends with tools directly in the machine.
- We can cut sheet steel 0.5 - 10 mm, stainless steel 0.5 - 5 mm and aluminium 0.5 - 5 mm.
- We can cut plates up to size 2500 x 1250 mm.
