Laser cutting Stockholm

We perform laser cutting in Stockholm and the surrounding area, where we can assist already at the idea stage with our sheet metal knowledge and planning for the creation of a prototype. Our modern machines in combination with our expertise and experience give you a flexible and cost-effective production with the right results according to your high demands.

Laser cutting has many advantages

Laser cutting is the most advanced technique for cutting advanced shapes. You get very fine and precise cut surfaces (the cut can be as narrow as a few tenths of a millimetre!), details and straight lines. This non-contact and flexible method offers great freedom of choice in terms of shape.

Laser cutting is ideal for both serial and piece production, in small and large volumes. The technology is capable of quick changeovers and dimensional changes and can be used on a variety of materials, such as sheet steel, stainless steel and aluminium. All these advantages mean that laser cutting is also a time, cost and material saving method.

In a nutshell:

  • Laser cutting is a prominent and flexible technique for cutting advanced shapes with very fine cuts.
  • It is a time, cost and material saving method.
  • The technique can be used on many different types of materials.

How does laser cutting of sheet metal work?

A high-power laser uses fibre optics or mirrors to direct a thin, perpendicular and focused beam at the workpiece. The laser beam hits the surface of the sheet metal, where the energy is converted into heat. The material then melts or completely vaporises. The actual cutting begins when the laser beam has penetrated the material at a certain point. The laser beam follows the pre-programmed file and separates the material in the process.

It is the performance and conditions of the machine, the quality of the material and the skill of the operator, as well as his routine of being able to set all the different parameters of the machine, that determine the thickness of the material that can be cut and the result of the cut.

Laser cutting Stockholm for those with high demands

We at Plåt & Mekano have over 40 years of experience in laser cutting and punching with combination machines. We have no less than three modern combination machines with punching and laser, which makes it possible to get both laser-cut sheet metal and punching with tools. Being able to make countersinks, threads, embossings and other shapes in the same machine set-up as the laser cutting provides an efficient and fast production process. We also have a machine with a picking robot for unloading to a conveyor belt.

We can cut from about 0.5 to 10 mm in steel, 0.5 to 5 mm in aluminium and 0.3 to 5 mm in stainless steel. The machines are capable of cutting sheets in the size of 2500 x 1250 mm.

We have a high capacity and as you can see, regardless of the choice of material and thickness, we can fulfil very high finish requirements for your products.

Our Amada combi laser LC 2012 C1

The Amada LC 2012 C1 combi laser together with our two Apelio combi machines are in production around the clock. All are of the CO2 laser type, 2kW and have integrated punching units in the same machine as the laser unit. So it's two machines in one!

Using this type of machine results in faster and more cost-effective production by saving set-up time for a part containing mouldings, countersinks and threads. You can engrave, punch markings, threads, collars and bumps, as well as punch smaller bends with tools directly in the machine.
