Laser cutting Malmö

We carry out laser cutting for customers in Malmö and the surrounding area, where thanks to our modern combi machines, experience and skill, you get a flexible and cost-effective production with the right results. We can assist from the idea stage, with planning, development of a prototype or if you simply have a finished part to be laser cut. Here you can count on the right result according to your high demands.

Laser cutting has endless advantages

When it comes to cutting advanced shapes, laser cutting is the most advanced technique. It produces very fine and precise cut surfaces (it can be as narrow as a few tenths of a millimetre!). Laser cutting is a non-contact technique that gives you great freedom of choice in the thickness of the sheet metal and allows you to create complex shapes and patterns.

Laser cutting in sheet metal can be used for both serial and piece production, in small and large volumes. The technology can cope with rapid changeovers and dimensional changes, and we cut sheet steel, aluminium and stainless steel. The surface rarely needs finishing. All these advantages ultimately mean that laser cutting is a time, cost and material saving method.

In other words:

  • Laser cutting is a prominent and flexible technique for cutting advanced shapes with very fine cuts.
  • It is a time, cost and material saving method.
  • The technique can be used on different materials

Laser cutting of sheet metal - the process

Using fibre optics or mirrors, a thin, perpendicular and focused beam from a high-power laser is directed at the workpiece. The laser beam hits the surface of the sheet metal, where the energy is converted into heat and the material melts or completely vaporises. The actual cutting begins when the laser beam has penetrated the material at a certain point. The laser system follows the selected template and separates the material in the process.

The thickness of the material that can be cut and the result of the cut is determined by the performance and conditions of the machine, the quality of the material and the thickness of the sheet, and the operator's skill and experience in setting all the different parameters of the machine.

Laser cutting Malmö for those with high demands

We at Plåt & Mekano have over 40 years of experience in laser cutting and punching with combination machines. We have as many as three modern combination machines with punching and laser, which makes it possible to get both laser-cut sheet metal and punching with tools. Being able to make countersinks, threads, embossings and other shapes in the same machine set-up as the laser cutting means that the production process is both efficient and fast. For this, we have a machine with a picking robot for unloading to a conveyor belt.

We can cut from about 0.5 to 10 mm in steel, 0.5 to 5 mm in aluminium and 0.3 to 5 mm in stainless steel. The machines are capable of cutting sheets in the size of 2500 x 1250 mm.

We have a high capacity and as you can see, regardless of the choice of material and thickness, we can fulfil very high finish requirements for your parts.

Amada combi lasers LC 2012 C1

Amada combination laser LC 2012 C1 is together with our two Apelio combination machines in production around the clock. They are of the CO2 laser type, 2kW with integrated punching units in the same machine as the laser unit, which means we get two machines in one!

Using this type of machine results in faster and more cost-effective production by saving set-up time for a part that includes mouldings, countersinks and threads. With Amada combi lasers, you can engrave, punch markings, collars and bumps and punch smaller bends with tools directly in the machine.
